Simple Pillow Customization
With my headboard painted red in my guest room I have been on the lookout for some throw pillows to add to the bed.
I ran across a cute little rectangular pillow at Target with a black and white design that had some colors embroidered over it. With red, orange, yellow and blue as the accent colors of the pillow it was almost perfect. It only needed a little green to be just right for the room.
I thought about it a bit and decided to buy the pillow. I grabbed some green embroidery thread and used a satin stitch to cover a few of the pattern shapes with green.
The change is a subtle one, but it pulls the pillow together to fit in with the color scheme that I have for the guest room. I'm really happy that I got the pillow and that this simple customization was so easy. Sometimes the little touches are just what is called for.
Have you made any little changes to something store bought recently to customize it for your home?

What a great idea. Another amazing creative result. Your bathroom has become a feature for BH&G and who would not want to come and stay in your guest room. I do hope you are putting as much thought, craft and love into your own room ;) Today's P.O.D. - I want to walk that beach. My crafting this month so far has been using a store bought frame that was for last year's calendar and creating my own changeable motivating "Posters" - I am having some fun with it, using up some scrapping stuff and creating something to remind myself about positive energy and thoughts. So far I have created 6 "posters"
I can't recall customizing a home accent. However, I needed a floor-length gown for an event one time and I saw a gorgeous purple dress with a cleopatra type collar. It was $200 on sale for $18 because it was missing a row of purple bugle beads. It fit like a glove. I went to Michaels and found an identical pack of beads for 59 cents and sewed on the missing row. No one ever knew the difference.
Mary-Lou- Thank you! Those posters sounds really cool! I bet they look awesome.
Kathy- That dress sounds wonderful! What great vision for you to see the potential for the dress and fix it up. I bet it looked gorgeous!
