A New Light for My Studio

The overhead light that I had in my studio wasn't really working for me anymore (it wasn't enough light to effectively work in there at night) so I had been looking for something that I could replace it with. When I was at the ReStore in Ann Arbor I stumbled upon a pendant light for five dollars that I picked up.

I brought it home, taped off the electrical wires and socket and then gave the fixture three light coats of oil rubbed bronze spray paint.

I paired the fixture with a vintage glass shade that I bought on eBay and hung it in the room.

I really love the glass shade and I think that the simple pendant fixture works well with it.

Unfortunately, my new light was in a very messy studio. This past weekend I spent a lot of time cleaning and organizing it with some new storage solutions. I hope to have it finished up later this week to share it.

Hi Lisa! Just wanted to finally post a comment on your blog, although I have been reading you for ages. I am a fan from way back, I have always loved your scrapbooking style and have your Step Up book. You've inspired more than one scrapbook layout for me! So I thought I would drop a line and say first of all that I LOVE what you did with this light. That glass shade is amazing. I have a similar deco style shade on my front porch that I found at a garage sale for less than $10 and I love it too. But, I also wanted to say that I hope you are still doing at least a little scrapbooking in that craft room!

Take care!

Linda- Thank you so much! Your comment made my day. I'm so glad that you enjoyed my book and scrapbooking layouts. I must admit that I don't do much scrapbooking anymore but I do make some mini-albums from time to time which I post here. Thank you also for the compliments on the light. Your deco shade at $10 sounds like it was a steal! Thanks again!

You made this light so beautifully! I am truly awestruck! The interior's light tones freshen the environment, giving it an air of elegance and sophistication. Light tones are widely recognized for dramatically expanding the size of tiny spaces. A monochromatic palette, on the other hand, can be cruel to those who do not dare to add vivid accents, depriving the surroundings of volume and visibly shrinking the size of the spaces. Light shades reflect the sun's rays efficiently, resulting in a cool wall surface, which is especially important in rooms on the south side of the house. The benefit of the color scheme's coolness and brightness in creating a sense of weightlessness and airiness in the setting. It's much easier to use bright, rich colors to create the appropriate highlights on a white backdrop. Dark tones cannot combine all pieces of furniture and décor together in a single aesthetic solution, as can a soothing fundamental tone. You can also check out the Home and Garden section of TrueGether for many similar products. It has emerged out as an amazing alternative to eBay.

During my online exploration, I discovered a charming collection of pickle vectors that exude a delightful and whimsical charm. Capturing the essence of the beloved green snack, these illustrations are not only visually engaging but also inject a playful spirit into any design. Whether pickle vector you're a fan of pickles or seeking a touch of lightheartedness, these vectors are a delightful and unexpected find.
