I have never before seen an image of that monastery. Very interesting and quite beautiful! With a bit of research, I was able to find that the nuns who live there today will welcome guests. Did you go inside?
Sandy- The monasteries at Meteora were amazing to see. My friend and I had a cab drive us up to Grand Meteoron and then we spent the day visiting monasteries as we walked back down the mountainside to Kalambaka. This picture is the view of Roussanou from one of the other monasteries. The monasteries were all lovely and each one was unique. They were incredible feats of engineering to build because although now there are modern stairs and bridges it used to be that you could only get up by baskets with pulleys.

I hadn't given much thought to how difficult it must have been to build structures like those, much less that you had to risk life and limb to get up and down from them! It must have taken a while to tour the monasteries since they were all so separated by the elevations. In my quick bit of research on the Internet, I discovered and found interesting that women wearing shorts, pants, and/or short sleeves are not permitted inside. Dress code is definitely something to think about when visiting other cultures. Thanks for sharing and opening my eyes to these fantastic examples of architecture.
Lisa - you have such a great eye for photography. I love all your photos. Have you taken a photography class or are you just gifted? I think your gifted. That is one of the reasons I'm such a fan of your scrapbooking style because of how you showcase your photos. These photos you post are just amazing!!!! Keep sharing and thanks, it gives me ideas for taking better pics!
Sandy- Yes, you have to wear long skirts at the monasteries. Since we were spending the day hiking down the mountain it wasn't so practical for us, but they provide long wrap skirts that you can tie on to enter. Orlanda- Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you enjoy me posted my photos. They typically don't get a lot of comments, so I wonder if people enjoy seeing them. I've never taken a photography class, I just like playing around with my camera.
